Leveraging an existing infrastructure is essential to the success of DC ubiquitousness. For example, the existing AC power distribution circuit in a building can be leveraged for the DC power distribution. 

An AC power distribution circuit typically comprises two hot wires, where one hot wire is leverageable to distribute a high DC voltage for use by devices requiring higher power, such asdesk-top, laptop computer, or television. The other hot wire is leverageable to distribute a lower DC voltage for devices requiring less power, such as mobile devices and/or consumer electronics. The ground wire in the existing AC power distribution circuit then functions as a current return path for DC power. It is possible to have DC power directly available at the power sockets connected to a legacy AC power distribution circuit without a need to retrofit distribution wires or receptacles in the building in order to use DC power.

The power supply unit in a computer or the power adaptor for laptop or consumer electronics would thus become redundant. Many could be eliminated to save manufacturing resources and to cut down e-waste. More importantly, it reduces energy wasted in various AC-to-DC conversions, which is helpful to curb global warming. The energy conversion efficiency in an inferior power adaptor is often less than 80%, which wastes precious energy into heat.

An AC power panel can be converted into a DC power panel to distribute DC power in a building, where the DC power panel may source DC power directly from regenerated power resources, such as solar panels, or from energy storage devices, such as battery. By incorporating a higher efficiency AC-DC converter in power panel to convert AC utility power into one or more DC voltages could meet many DC usage needs. In cases there are any AC based appliances or equipment still requiring AC power, an AC-and-DC co-distribution power panel can be chosen instead.

A DC power attachment device is adaptable to plug into a legacy receptacle connected to a DC power distribution circuit. The DC power attachment device can provide both high and low DC voltages received from a legacy receptacle for various DC devices to use, which can be plugged into the connectors or sockets on the DC attachment device. It would no longer need AC power adaptors any more when DC powers are directly available at a power receptacle.
